atie was born in 1979, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At a very young age she spent time at the golf practice facility her family operated and there she learned the fundamentals of golf from her father, a PGA Teaching Professional and Tour Player.

As a youngster Katie excelled in many sports including basketball and softball. Then at age 16 her mother told her, “Trust God and He will grant you the desires of your heart…” Katie responded with, “Then I want to be a professional golfer!” She then scaled back her other sports to focus on golf.
In 1997, Katie played golf as a Cal Bear at the University of California Berkeley. She later transferred to the University of Minnesota where she completed her education and collegiate golf career winning Florida’s Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational, being named Big 10 Athlete of the Week, and Minnesota Golf Athlete of the Year. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Katie won the 2001 Minnesota Women’s State Open, played in the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic and Wendy’s LPGA Championship for Children as an amateur. She was then ready to make an imprint on the world of professional women’s golf.

In 2002, Katie fearlessly kicked off her pro career by competing on the Kosiado Asian Tour (Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand), in the Women’s Australian Open, the ANZ Ladies Masters (Australia), and on the LPGA Futures Tour. For her 2003 season she returned to the Kosiado Asian Tour, the LPGA Futures Tour, and qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open at Pumpkin Ridge. Her diligent practice paid off as Katie earned her tour card for the Ladies European Tour where she competed from 2004-2007. She qualified for the Women’s British Open at Royal Birkdale, set a course record 66 (-6) in Spain, and shot her career low 65 (-7) in the Ladies English Open.  Katie has been privileged to work with excellent instructors throughout her career. She has received coaching from the Jim McLean Golf School, the Scotty Cameron Putter Studio, the Mark Wood Golf Academy, Vision 54’s Pia Nilsson & Lynn Marriott, The Golf Athlete, Golf Bio Dynamics and the Titleist Performance Institute. She also has throughly studied the works of Bob Rotella.

As a result of her hard work and supportive sponsors, Katie has been fortunate to live out her dream of playing golf professionally. Along the way she has acquired a remarkable amount of golf knowledge through the experiences she has had training and competing with the best in the World. In 2008, she began teaching golf and has had the opportunity to observe at the Butch Harmon School of Golf and Kip Puterbaugh’s Golf Academy. Katie has joined the upper echelon in the golf industry by earning status as a Class A LPGA Teaching Professional and a TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor.

In 2016, Katie became a certified TGA Premier Golf Coach.  She began teaching ‘Golf in Schools’ in conjunction with the Southern California Section of the PGA of America and their initiative to grow the game of golf.  Today Katie continues her love of golf by sharing her expertise and unique insight into the game through her website and as a syndicated columnist.
